Managing Buckthorn in a Midcoast Forest

April 18 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED. PLEASE CHECK THE CALENDAR IN MAY FOR A NEW DATE.

Have you ever had to battle buckthorn in your woodland? In some places on the midcoast, glossy buckthorn (Frangula alnus) has taken over forest understory areas to the exclusion of almost all other plants….including tree seedlings and saplings. Join us for our next woodland stewardship workshop to see what this invasive plant can do…and what you can do about it. We’ll visit John Krueger’s woodlot, where he has been actively managing a severe infestation of glossy buckthorn in order to assist regeneration and growth of native trees. Meet us at 291 Rocky Road in Belfast.
